As many as 29 buses co-financed from EU funds arrived in Dubrovnik in two cycles in the last two years, and among them three midi suburban buses of the OTOKAR brand, which were presented to the public today in the premises of the Libertas company.
"We can truly express our satisfaction with the fact that the Libertas fleet is getting newer, which means that maintenance costs are also lower. Also, Libertas Dubrovnik is ready for a new financial operating period and all studies necessary for the upcoming EU tender, through which we will be able to procure electric buses, have been made. This will further reduce the age of the vehicle fleet on our streets for the benefit of fellow citizens and visitors and achieve the maximum sustainability we wanted in terms of regular bus replacement,'' said Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Franković on this occasion.
Buses in city transport are currently within 6 years old, suburban within 9 years, and their average age is 7.5 years.
"The total value of the three new buses is 2,644,800.00 HRK plus VAT, of which 2.2 million EU funds, and the value of all 18 buses purchased in this cycle is 30,960,540.00 plus VAT, of which 26 million kuna of EU funds. When we add to that the 11 buses that arrived last year, we acquired a total of 29 and withdrew almost HRK 50 million of European funds,'' said the director of Libertas Dubrovnik d.o.o. during the presentation. Franko Mekisic.
Three midi buses are intended for suburban transport, with a capacity of slightly less than 50 passengers.
They are equipped with engines that meet the strictest environmental norms and standards, and are also adapted for transporting people with reduced mobility. They are already moving reliably on the streets of Croatia and cities in Europe, and I am sure that they will serve very well here too,'' said Zvonko Gabud, representative of the supplier, Auto Hrvatska.
The three newest buses will be deployed for Osojnik, Bosanka and Šipan and, if necessary, for parish lines.
